Karen, Lawana, and Bonita Karen U. Stilley was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but she’s been in New
Bern so long that most locals think of her as a native New Bernian. She is a
North Carolina Certified Paralegal with 28 years of experience in family law.
She is also a member of the Legal Assistants Division of the North Carolina Bar
Association. After 26 years with another firm, she came to Cynthia Y. Carroll,
P.A., in October 2005, "to provide assistance to family law clients in a caring
atmosphere." She is married to Grady Stilley, a former criminal
investigator/pilot. Their blended family consists of 4 children and 2
grandchildren. Karen is a an active member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoys
reading the latest mystery novel, boating, and family.

Lawana Corey is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and also a member of the
Legal Assistants Division of the North Carolina Bar Association. She moved from
Tennessee to North Carolina in 1999 and began work in the legal field shortly
thereafter. She joined the team at Cynthia Y. Carroll, P.A., in November 2003.
Lawana is working on her Associates Degree at Craven Community College. She has
two wonderful boys, Jeremy (age 19) and Jered (age 11). She enjoys going to the
beach, riding motorcycles with her significant other (Tom, a retired Marine),
kayaking, and almost all outdoor activities.

Bonita M. Hooker is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal with 20 years legal
experience, and also a member of the Legal Assistants Division of the North
Carolina Bar Association. She is originally from Charleston, West Virginia, but
relocated to the New Bern area in 2000. She joined the Cynthia Y. Carroll, P.A.,
team in May of 2006. Bonita is married to John Hooker, Jr. She has two sons, one
daughter, two step-daughters, and is "Granny" to six grandchildren. Her hobbies
include playing guitar, sewing, watching college football, and spoiling her
grandbabies.
